Charlestown Chiefs Are Folding

The Charlestown Chiefs are folding… sort of. Johnstown Pennsylvania, the town depicted in the 1977 movie classic Slap Shot are losing their team, the Johnstown Chiefs, due to tough economic times.

The fictional Charlestown Chiefs were loosely based on the former Johnstown team – the Johnstown Jets. Many years after Slap Shot came out, the former Jets (which folded the year of the movie) were reborn as the Chiefs. That comes to an end at the end of this season. The team is moving to Greenville, South Carolina.

Here are some clips from the hockey movie classic Slap Shot. Note: There’s some ‘hockey language’ for sure in these clips.
